Unlike other neighborhoods in San Francisco, the Haight-Ashbury is not of industrial and manufacturing origins, but has always been residential.  This positions the Haight uniquely to have an urban organization that produces a walkable, bikeable, and overall easily commutable neighborhood. In addition, reliable parking, much greenery, thanks to the pan handle and golden gate park, and conveniences of schools, libraries, and child care in close vicinity, create an architecture that is ultimately a safe and enjoyable place to raise a family.
